Good morning!
If there’s one thing that is enjoyable about the cold weather it’s the chance to drink hot chocolate. I know you can drink it any time of year – and I’ll have a hot cup of tea in the hottest of weather – but cocoa I like to save until Christmas is approaching.
And what better time to indulge than a Sunday afternoon whilst watching a Christmas movie? That was me this Sunday (and next hopefully). Feet up, fairy lights on, cup of hot chocolate in hand.
Now, I like to spruce it up a little on occasion. I’m quite happy with my choice of instant (fair trade, recyclable packaging, good taste) but sometimes it’s nice to add a twist. My favourite is a drop of Irish cream ( like you didn’t see that coming) but sometimes just a chunk of good chocolate or marshmallows does the trick.
The internet, however, is awash with recipes to try. So a gave one a go this weekend. I went daring and added a little cinnamon and cayenne. Yes, cayenne. You know this trend for chilli chocolate? It’s that idea. Well, it was different! I don’t think I’ll have it again, and perhaps it works better if it’s proper cocoa where you are boiling the milk with the spices in from the start, but you don’t know if you don’t try.
With that in mind, if you fancy a change, somebody did the hard work for us and collated a ton of recipes for you to check out so visit them here.
In the meantime, tell me, how do you like yours?
Best wishes
